Some boards are experimenting with carbon budgets for domestic seasons, where each team is allotted a carbon allowance and must offset or reduce travel accordingly. These initiatives, though nascent, signal that cricket is embracing environmental consciousness not merely as corporate messaging but as a core operating principle. Maintaining momentum will require fans, sponsors and administrators to view sustainability as integral to the sport’s identity rather than an optional add‑on.
